Truthwitch Read-Along Discussion Two

Truthwitch readalong

My fellow Waterbabes have come up with this amazing Truthwitch read-along from Feb 1st till Feb 29th. So make sure you stop by each one, its really fun, get to know other people thoughts and there are giveaways with each stop so make sure you check it out.

Week Two Discussion

Question 1:

Of the lands that we have visited so far in the book, where in the Witchlands would you want to live, given the choice?

Truthwitch map.jpg

My mind might change as the books progress but if give the choice… Cartorra where Safi is from although I don’t know if I totally believe her uncle but they believe in change from the Great War ending for good and not starting a new war.

Question 2

There have been quite a few mottos and words of wisdom used by a few of the characters so far. Which one is your favourite? Do have any special phrases that help you get through your day?

She behaved like she fought, like she danced-pushing people to the edge and testing their limits.

Positive Mind

Positive Vibes

Positive Life

Question 3

Friendship is a main theme that pulses through Truthwitch. Do you have a relationship like Safi and Iseult? Is there someone out there who always has your back and will defend you?

It is wrong for me to say that I prefer to be friends with characters in the books  I read? I find I can relate to the characters the authors have created or is it we relate to those characters in some ways. Always find joining street teams is a amazing way to make friends and talk about anything especially books.

Question 4

If you were inserted into one of the novel’s epic battle scenes, which witchery would you like to have in order to defend yourself?

There are many witches and battle scenes to choose from and choosing the right one. Just thinking like a video game but in the Witchlanders you are born with your witchery. A Waterwitch to heart but would love to have the ability’s of a Glamourwitch that can manipulate what people see and can trick anyone but mostly a Bloodwitch. Imagine having a Glamourwitch when Safi and Isuelt were at the lighthouse fighting the Bloodwitch although Merik came to the rescue but having a Glamourwitch to distract the Bloodwitch. Just think about it, we all have a over-imaginative mind.

Question 5

Do you find Iseult to be a likeable character? How do you feel about the way she is treated like an outcast? Do you think she is a good influence on Safiya?

I have always liked Iseult even before reading Truthwitch, we have too many similarities that I can relate to her. She a character I want to read more about as the story progress and in future novels.

In today’s world everyone is treated differently but we try to accept everyone by there race, class, nationality or colour. I feel like people treat Isuelt from what they heard or what they been brought up to avoid people of her kind. We are all human beings, we have feeling and for Iseult to hid her face from the world because of who she is. They need to give her break, break some rules and accept her just like Merick has.

She means well for Safiya, they have a bond that is unbreakable like two peas in a pod. I feel like she trying to bring the good in Safiya even through Safiya does make more of a mess.

Truthwitch Read-Along Discussion One

Truthwitch readalong

My fellow Waterbabes have come up with this amazing Truthwitch read-along from Feb 1st till Feb 29th. So make sure you stop by each one, its really fun, get to know other people thoughts and there are giveaways with each stop so make sure you check it out.

Week One Discussion

Question 1:
Safi and Iseult are fantasic fighters. Have you ever wanted to learn how to fight/take self-defense classes or have you already? Tell us about your reasoning/experience!

It has crossed my mind, many times over the years to take some lessons on self-defense. Always find reading novels with strong heroine had taught me ways to defend myself or ways to get me out of a situation although taking lessons would show you skills to get out of situations and make you stronger

Personally women should take pre-cautions, we are classed as the gentle sex and are targeted in silly circumstances. (Which I don’t want to mention if anyone has been through a situation and I do apologies in advance) I don’t want to slam women or men personally, as both gender are strong and can defend for themselves but I always think just taking a few lesson in self-defense will put a clearer mind when you sleep at night for yourself or your family.

Question 2:
Of those specialized witcheries revealed so far (truthwitch, threadwitch, bloodwitch, wordwitch, windwitch, voicewitch) which power would you like to have and why?
Susan still can’t change my mind although it may have altered just a little. For those who don’t know I have always loved Isuelt. Isuelt and I are very similar. It would be amazing to see the threads that bind our world, people’s threads but the downfall is you can’t see your own.  Another witcherie would be Truthwitch beside me and Safi are hot headed but I’ve been lied to a lot in my life and would love to see if people are telling the truth or not. The downfall is people mite get offended, haha I wouldn’t care because then I’ll know where I stand.
Question 3:
The beginning of the book already features political intrigue, Safi and Iseult trying to get away, and the mystery of cleaving. Which plot point interests you the most so far, and why?
I would love to know more about the Threads that bind, the Threads that build and the Threads that break. We have read a little about the Short Threads that break and are shown on the dead but why are threads shown on the dead. What are Severed Threads has it got something to do with this Puppeteer but really want to know more about these threads and how many are out there.
Question 4:
Share a favourite quote from the book!

“I see.” She drawled, “that you have learned how to work a button. Congratulations on this no doubt life-altering fear.”

He laughed- a surprised sound- and bowed his head. “And I see you have cleaned the bird crap off your shoulder.”

Character Spotlight: Safiya Talk about what you like or dislike about Safi. Do you identify with her in anyway? What do you think about her actions so far?

I find Safi relies on her Threadsister Iseult for the answer, planning, just about everything but she would anything to find her Threadsister. She is a fun character even when she is prone to make mistakes and acts before thinking.

I and Safi want to see the truth in the world, in people we don’t know or who are very close to us. Just want the world to be in harmony with one another and with the truth of course but I think that is asking too much. The truth is better than telling a lie but sadly as whole we all lie through our teeth’s.

Safi is prone to making mistakes and she has made a huge mistake in which it could cost hers and Isuelts life, she wants to fix everything but it could put them in deeper and deeper problems.

This short story originally from the anthology Spell of the Ball which was release as a limited edition around October 2015, release on its own and how beautiful is the cover.

A beautiful love story about our two favourite couple Stanhill and Corette. Stanhill is thinking of proposing to his partner of four year on the night of the Black and Orange Ball, and where at the Williams home, a spell has gone horribly wrong. Time is ticking close to midnight and will Stanhill and Corette have their happy ending. Short to the point, Kristen never disappoints with her stories and has every essence of what a love story should be. This story  keep me on my toes till the very last page.

The Vampire’s Fake Fiancée by Kristen Painter

Welcome to Nocturne Falls, the town where Halloween is celebrated 365 days a year. The tourists think it’s all a show: the vampires, the werewolves, the witches, the occasional gargoyle flying through the sky. But the supernaturals populating the town know better.

Living in Nocturne Falls means being yourself. Fangs, fur, and all.

Sebastian Ellingham isn’t known for being a happy vampire. And when his long estranged wife comes to town expecting to pick up where they left off, things take a sharp turn toward cranky. Sure he’s been protecting her for centuries, but her assumption that he’s still available (he is) rankles.

His answer is to hire a woman to play his fiancée. The lucky victim is Tessa Blythe, sister of one of the town’s deputies, librarian in need of a job and, oh yes, reluctant Valkyrie. Playing along with Sebastian is all about the end game for her, the position of Dean of Library Studies at the local private academy.

When unexpected sparks fly between them, they agree to mutually deny the attraction. Fate, however, has other plans…

I was lucky to get an ARC of this book for exchange for an honest review.

When I heard the title, The Vampire’s Fake Fiancée, it left me with a few questions that needed to be answered for example was this story going to be one of those sobs ending that he doesn’t get the girl in the end and is he left with a broken heart again. The only answer I had was this novel was about Sebastian.

Everyone who has entered Kristen’s world of Nocturne Falls wanted Sebastian’s story told, real truth about his life. This book didn’t disappoint me at all. When Sebastian’s ex wife rocks up into town well that’s where the lie started telling his wife that he was engaged to be wed and using a totally stranger in the mix. What could go wrong?

I wanted a story about a Valkyire but who knew a Vampire could fall in love with one. Two different people who are really the same. Tessa is new to town, just wanted the job at the Deans but she signed up for a lot more than she bargained for. Whirl wind roller coaster ride with lies building up, trying to fool Sebastian’s ex and gets his freedom. I am glad they didn’t get married in the end, just let nature take its course and who knows we may see this couple in future novels or even a short story.

There was humour, suspense, and fun just had every element of a great novel and not to forget the wonderful characters. Loved seeing Tessa showing her Valkyire towards the end.

Am I surprised what Kristen brings to her novels. Yes of course I am, you leave me guessing right till the very last page. Not to mention the covers are flawless. Another great story set in Nocturne Falls, another favourite can’t wait for the next instalment.

“They were a perfect fit, the recluse and the bookworm. The weapons collector and the sword wielder. The vampire and the valkyrie.”

Marissa Meyer Heartless Cover Revel

Marissa Meyer author of The Lunar Chronicles has released the cover to her standalone novel Heartless.

My thoughts:

I  absourtly love the cover but there is something missing or something I was hoping to be on the cover. The rose vines are gorgeous but was hoping to have the Queen of Hearts on the cover, just maybe, just maybe she will have the Queen of Hearts on the back of the cover.

Long before she was the terror of Wonderland — the infamous Queen of Hearts — she was just a girl who wanted to fall in love.

Catherine may be one of the most desired girls in Wonderland, and a favorite of the yet-unmarried King of Hearts, but her interests lie elsewhere. A talented baker, all she wants is to open a shop with her best friend and supply the Kingdom of Hearts with delectable pastries and confections. But according to her mother, such a goal is unthinkable for the young woman who could be the next Queen.

At a royal ball where Cath is expected to receive the king’s marriage proposal, she meets Jest, the handsome and mysterious court joker. For the first time, she feels the pull of true attraction. At the risk of offending the King and infuriating her parents, she and Jest enter into an intense, secret courtship.

Cath is determined to define her own destiny and fall in love on her terms. But in a land thriving with magic, madness, and monsters, fate has other plans.
